Ninja Combi vs Speedi UK: Which Fits Your Meals?

Information checked: 18 October 2026

Shortlist the Ninja Combi SFP700UK if you prefer front-access trays; shortlist the Ninja Speedi ON400UK if you prefer loading a pot from above. Both offer a way to organise a main and sides together. The more useful buying question is which arrangement suits the meals you repeat, the space you have and the washing-up you are willing to do.

How a main-and-sides meal is organised

Combi: a lower pan and a separate upper tray

In Ninja’s Combi inspiration guide, a typical Combi Meal puts the grain or pasta and specified liquid in the lower pan, with the protein on the upper Bake Tray. Vegetables can go in the pan or on the tray according to the meal builder. The steam-building stage comes before the timed cooking countdown.

That arrangement is worth considering if you like laying out food on separate trays. Before buying, choose one complete manufacturer recipe close to your usual dinner. Check its portions and ingredient preparation, then imagine loading, removing and serving each component. A front opening is useful only if you can work comfortably in front of it.

Speedi: the base of the pot and a raised tray

The Ninja ON400UK quick-start and recipe guide, hosted by Argos, places a Speedi Meal’s grain or pasta and liquid in the pot, with protein above on the raised Cook & Crisp tray. Its steam-building phase also precedes the countdown. Serving the food underneath involves removing the upper food and tray as directed.

This is a useful format to investigate if you enjoy meals built around a rice or pasta base. The practical check is whether accessing that lower layer fits your serving routine. Work through a full recipe before ordering; choosing ingredients independently does not establish that they share a suitable cooking time.

If your household usually wants dishes prepared separately, compare the arrangement with our family air-fryer guide. Map the meal across the available cooking spaces before choosing an appliance.

Check useful portions, not just litres

Ninja identifies the ON400UK cooking pot as 5.7 litres. That is not a permitted fill level or a guarantee that every family meal fits. For either machine, check the quantity of the main, the side dish and the space each needs within a supported recipe.

Start with your ordinary serving size, including anyone who wants seconds. If a meal needs another batch, account for the extra handling and waiting. For cakes or other dishes, measure the intended tin and verify its compatibility separately; our air-fryer baking guide explains the fit questions.

Which extra functions would you actually use?

The Combi’s Rice/Pasta, Prove and Reheat settings may matter if they address regular jobs. Speedi’s documented ten-function list includes Dehydrate. Neither a longer list nor a programme name establishes better cooking performance.

A shopping note: searches for “Ninja Combi 14-in-1” do not identify this exact UK configuration. Ninja’s SFP700UK listing specifies 12 functions. Match the model code before comparing listings. If you meant an appliance with microwave cooking, use our microwave air-fryer comparison.

Allow room to use it and clean it

The Combi instruction booklet requires at least 15cm above and on all sides, and says not to use it under cabinets. For Speedi, check its own supplied clearance instructions and room to open the lid; do not transfer Combi’s measurements.

Combi’s first-use instructions specify washing the pan and trays in warm, soapy water, then rinsing and drying thoroughly. For ongoing interior and control-panel cleaning, unplug, cool and wipe with a damp cloth; its base must not be immersed or dishwasher-cleaned. Ninja permits handwashing or dishwasher cleaning for Speedi’s removable pot and Cook & Crisp tray. That permission concerns those components, not the whole machine.

Consider where wet parts will drain and whether they fit your sink. If steaming vegetables is the main job you want to simplify, our three-tier steamer guide offers another format to assess.
