A spiralizer attachment can add a distinct cutting task to a compatible food processor. It is not the same as an ordinary slicing disc, and it will not necessarily fit another machine from the same brand. Start with the full processor reference and the accessory’s official compatibility list.

Match the reference before the range name
Record the product reference from the machine’s label and compare it with the attachment’s supported list. A range name such as XL may cover several versions. If the list does not clearly include your machine, ask the manufacturer rather than relying on a visual similarity between bowls.
The Magimix Spiral Expert kit, reference 17501 provides an explicit reference list and three named cones: spaghetti, tagliatelle and fusilli. It also lists a pusher, support shaft and XL lid. These are the parts of a particular system, not evidence that a cone alone will work with any processor.
Choose the shape for an actual dish
Think about whether you want thin strands, broader ribbons or another supported cut. The cone name describes a shape; it does not make vegetables nutritionally or mechanically identical to wheat pasta. Choose a suitable recipe for the ingredient and cut you plan to make.
If you only want occasional courgette ribbons, a separate simple tool may be enough. If you regularly prepare larger supported quantities and already own a compatible processor, the attachment may fit the routine better. Compare preparation and cleaning as well as the motorised cutting stage.
| Compatibility field | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Machine reference | Exact entry on the official list. | Brand alone does not prove fit. |
| Complete kit | Cone, holder, shaft, lid and pusher as required. | A missing support can make the set unusable. |
| Cutting shape | The cone or blade included in the bundle. | A photograph may show an optional shape. |
| Food dimensions | Length and diameter permitted by the manual. | Preparation can be necessary before feeding. |
| Storage | How the sharp cones are protected. | Loose cutting parts need a safe place. |
Prepare ingredients within the feed instructions
The Spiral Expert manual specifies firm, straight produce no longer than 10cm and between 3cm and 6cm in diameter. It advises against soft produce such as tomatoes. Those are instructions for this kit, not universal dimensions for all spiralizers.
Compare those requirements with the vegetables you normally buy. Curved or oversized pieces may need appropriate trimming, and the resulting offcuts are part of the preparation workload. Do not force an unsuitable piece through the feed tube simply to avoid cutting it first.
Use the supplied feeding arrangement
Follow the manual’s sequence for seating the support, holder, cone and lid. Secure and feed the produce as directed, using the specified pusher. Never place fingers or improvised utensils in the cutting path. Stop in the prescribed way before clearing or inspecting the assembly.
Expect some remaining produce rather than trying to drive every last fragment against the blade. The Magimix manual describes a stub at the pusher and a spiralised core in the bowl. Plan a suitable use for edible remnants separately; do not defeat the feeding mechanism to eliminate them.
Clean while the parts are accessible
Read the kit’s cleaning instructions before its first use, including any recommended brush and dishwasher permissions. Cutting cones can trap fragments, so inspect the food-contact surfaces rather than assuming that the visible outside is clean.
Dry and store the components through the prescribed arrangement. Keep the pusher and support with the cones so that the complete kit is easy to find. A damaged cone or lid should be replaced with the correct part rather than reshaped or adapted.
Compare with a standalone spiralizer
A processor attachment is attractive when it adds a frequently used supported function to equipment already on the worktop. A standalone tool may be easier to retrieve for a small occasional job. Our spiralizer guide offers that alternative comparison.
